Orange Juice and our Teeth
Posted On 01/13/2010 18:29:28 by bettyakers

I’m a fruit juice lover. Give me a fruit juice any time of the day and my day is complete. My addiction to fruit juices actually started way back in college. My best friend Carl, now a dentist in Costa Mesa, introduced to me his fruit juice diet. Every morning before heading to class, we would drop by his favorite cafe across our campus and get our daily dose of fruit juice.

Recently though I read that fruit juices, especially orange juice, decreases the hardness of the tooth enamel. Fruit juices just like sodas are acidic in nature. This can cause significant erosion of the teeth. So, the longer the teeth are exposed to acidic drinks, the faster and more severe the erosion.

Perhaps it’s time to cut back on fruit juices.
